Article IV

Sec. 9: No person elected to and serving in the legislature shall receive accept any civil appointment within this state from the governor, except notaries public, from the legislature, or from any other state authority, during the term for which he is elected. “Appointment” as used in this section does not mean election. If a member of the legislature is appointed or elected to another office, he shall resign his legislative office before accepting the appointive or elective office.
