Article XI
Sec. 7: There shall be elected on the first Monday in April,
nineteen hundred nine1909, astateboard ofagriculturetrustees to consist ofsix6 members,two2 of whom shall hold the office fortwo2 years,two2 forfour4 years andtwo2 forsix6 years. At every regular biennial spring election thereafter, there shall be electedtwo2 members whose term of office shall besix6 years. The members thus elected and their successors in office shall be a body corporate to be known as “TheState Board of Agricultureboard of trustees of Michigan state university of agriculture and applied science.” The board of trustees shall be the successor in interest to all the rights, powers, assets and liabilities of the state board of agriculture.Sec. 8: The
stateboard ofagriculturetrustees shall, as often as necessary, elect a president ofthe agricultural collegeMichigan state university, who shall be ex-officio a member of the board with the privilege of speaking but not of voting. He shall preside at the meetings of the board and be the principal executive officer ofthe collegeMichigan state university. The board shall have the general supervision ofthe collegeMichigan state university, and the direction and control of allagricultural collegeMichigan state university funds; and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by law.
