DETROIT - Robert Bobb will stay on another year as emergency financial manager in Detroit Public Schools, according to the Detroit Free Press.
In announcing his contract extension, Gov. Jennifer Granholm applauded his "zero-tolerance approach," while Bobb said the district still falls short in the areas of finance, reading, security and attendance, the Free Press reported. Bobb's current $260,000 contract expires March 1, 2010. Details on the renewal contract were not available, the Free Press reported.
Bobb and others used Granholm's announcement as a platform to support Proposal S, a $500 million bond measure that Detroit voters will decide on Tuesday. The money would be used to for school renovation and construction.
