Joshua Ingber is an associate professor of economics at Northern Michigan University. He completed a doctoral degree in economics from George Mason University (2020) and a master’s in applied economics from Johns Hopkins University (2014). Before academia, Joshua served at the Bureau of Economic Analysis as a regional researcher. He also worked as an econometrician at Summit Consulting, focusing on low-income housing, underwriting, and energy subsidies. As a real estate entrepreneur, Joshua founded Greensquare Buildings, and as a student of economics he has lived on a commune. Currently, Joshua’s academic research centers on monetary policy, regional inflation, and political economy. His work has appeared in several peer-reviewed journals, including the European Journal of Political Economy and European Economic Review. Joshua is a member of the Mackinac Center’s Board of Scholars and the director of the Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship. He credits his passion for economics to his father’s story - an immigrant who created a better life - his kids for making him a teacher, and his wife for everything else.
