DETROIT — Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy wants parents who miss conferences with school teachers to face jail time, according to CNN.
Worthy told Detroit City Council this week that parents who do not attend at least one parent-teacher conference a year should spend three days in jail, CNN reported.
Worthy also has made her suggestion to the state Legislature.
Daniel Lessard, a member of the Livonia school board, told CNN he agrees parents need to be more involved, but said Worthy's proposal is "the dumbest thing I've ever heard," CNN reported.
