On Dec. 3, Director of Fiscal Policy Michael LaFaive appeared on the Boston, Mass.-based nationally syndicated public radio program "On Point," with host Tom Ashbrook and other guests, including Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, and author Richard Florida.

The subject was Gov. Granholm's "Cool Cities" campaign, an attempt to make Michigan cities more attractive to young, bright, talented people. LaFaive argues that government “can't do cool," and that cities should stick to their knitting, such as ensuring public safety, and improving schools.
