Note to readers: A March 9, 2003 news report in The Detroit News (see below) refers to itself as "the first public accounting" of the Clean Michigan Initiative, the state's largest environmental spending program. This is incorrect. In October 2002 the Mackinac Center published the program's first public accounting, entitled "The Clean Michigan Initiative: An Assessment," from which The Detroit News borrowed heavily for its March 9 stories. Detroit News editors have been notified of the correct information.
