About the Author

Former junior-high and high school teacher Matthew J. Brouillette is assistant director of education policy at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and managing editor of the Center’s quarterly education journal, Michigan Education Report. He received a bachelor of arts degree in U. S. history and secondary education from Cornell College in Iowa, a master’s degree in graduate education from Azusa Pacific University in California, and a master of arts degree in teaching and public history from the University of San Diego.
