DETROIT - A Detroit elementary teacher allegedly pawned one of the district's laptop computers for $60, according to The Associated Press.
The district told investigators that the teacher said she needed the money to repair a tire on a personal vehicle, the AP reported. She said she intended at some point to pay the pawn fee and return the computer.
More than 500 district computers have been stolen in the past six months, AP reported. The teacher has been suspended without pay while the investigation continues.
