In an article titled, “Homicide rate in Detroit is lowest since 1967,” MyFoxDetroit reports, “… Detroit is moving in the right direction when it comes to reducing crime.”

For The Record says: The number of homicides in Detroit may be the lowest since 1967 but the murder rate is not at a low point.

There were about 688,701 residents in Detroit last year and 300 homicides. In 1967, Detroit had 281 murders out of a population around 1.6 million. So the actual “homicide rate” is much higher today.
