Unionized public employees are among the fastest-growing group of millionaires in the country due to the generous pension benefits they have negotiated for themselves. The costs of these benefits are forcing many states and municipalities into large budget shortfalls and even bankruptcy, crowding out critical government services on which the poor and middle class rely.
