WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. - Voters in 10 public school districts in Washtenaw County will be asked to approve a new, 2-mill school tax in November, according to a report in The Dexter Leader.
The "regional enhancement millage" would continue for five years, with all tax dollars distributed to the 10 local school districts that make up the Washtenaw Intermediate School District, the report said.
Under Michigan law, an intermediate district must put an enhancement millage on the ballot if it receives identical requests from school districts representing a majority of the students who live within ISD boundaries, according to the report. Ten boards of education in the Washtenaw district made such requests.
