The graphic design intern will work on a variety of graphic design projects supporting the Mackinac Center communications department. He or she will work directly with graphic designers as well as the rest of the communications team. Graphic design work may include publication layout, working with HTML and maintaining the visual brand. This position will involve coordination with all Mackinac Center departments and policy areas.

Ideal candidates will possess a background in graphic design. Excellent organizational and written and oral communications skills are required, as is ethical and professional conduct.

This internship provides an opportunity to work at the nation’s premiere state-based free-market public policy research and educational organization. As such, candidates should share a similar political alignment and be proponents of free markets and limited government. Please note that a curriculum major in politics or economics is not required; students from all subject areas are encouraged to apply.

The employment term is a minimum of 10 full-time weeks between May and August. Interns are compensated at the rate of $10 per hour, and are employed on an at-will basis. Interns whose permanent address is outside a 30-mile radius of Midland are paid a housing stipend in the amount of $250 per month.
