The MEA says on its Facebook page that Armada Area Schools is “dealing with budget cuts.”

Actually, the district has been receiving more state dollars for fewer students over the past three years. In 2010-11, Armada Area Schools received $13.5 million in state dollars for 2,038 students, according to the Michigan Department of Education’s financial status reports.

For the just completed 2013-14 school year, that increased to $13.8 million for 2,022 students. That’s $300,000 more despite 16 fewer students.
