Lorie Shane was appointed managing director of advancement for the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in July 2012. Her responsibilities include grant writing, administration, new donor cultivation and staff supervision. Prior to her promotion, she served as a Mackinac Center advancement officer and as managing editor of the Center's Michigan Education Report.
Shane worked as a freelance writer before coming to the Center, having started her career as a reporter for the South Haven Daily Tribune and then for the Midland Daily News. Shane holds bachelor’s degrees in journalism and in social work from Central Michigan University. She and her husband, Dave, reside in Midland, Mich.
