Unflattering Comparisons Never Made About Male-Politicians – NOT!

There’s a double standard all right – but the opposite one of what this Democrat claims

State Rep. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, D-Detroit, is the chair of the Detroit Caucus in the Michigan House of Representatives. In a recent edition of public television’s “Off the Record” program, she questioned whether there is a double standard in politics when it comes to Republicans who compare Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer with former Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

It came up again in a MIRS News article in which Gay-Dagnogo asked, “Do we do that with men?”

The legislator added, “It speaks to how we value women in races,” adding that it’s unfair to compare female candidates to each other based simply on their gender.

ForTheRecord says: Are such comparisons ever made involving male politicians and candidates? Nah, never.

Michigan Democrats ran a TV shortly before the October 2006 gubernatorial election, casting Republican nominee Dick DeVos as Michigan's version of President George W. Bush.
