A Macomb Daily story reported that state Sen. Jack Bradenburg, R-Harrison Township, questioned whether a well-publicized fight at L’Anse Creuse High School was caused by an influx of nonresident students admitted under a public school choice program.

The story stated, “Critics say the influx of choice students results in increased class sizes and less personal attention for students.”

ForTheRecord says: L’Anse Creuse Public Schools enrollment has been declining for some time. The district enrolled 12,067 students in the 2009-10 school year, but just 11,124 last year, a decline of 943 students in five years. That's nearly an 8 percent decline, not an "influx."
