ALPENA - Teachers and administrators in Alpena Public Schools have jointly developed a new teacher evaluation tool based on the work of educational consultant Charlotte Danielson, according to The Alpena News.
The tool is a framework that describes and sets standards for good teaching practices, school officials said, according to The News. Educators and other staff will learn more about the framework during professional development sessions beginning this fall, The News reported.
The district recently received $6,000 in grant funding from the Michigan Education Association and the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan for the professional development, training and software, according to The News.
Danielson, of New Jersey, is a former teacher and administrator who developed a Framework for Teaching that focuses on the four key areas of preparation, classroom environment, instruction and professional responsibility, according to information at her website.
