GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Administrators and staff at two Catholic high schools in Grand Rapids will consolidate this fall, but the schools will not merge, The Grand Rapids Press reported.
Grand Rapids West Catholic High School Principal Tom Maj will also serve as principal of Catholic Central beginning this fall, The Press reported. The schools also will share counselors and some teachers.
Catholic Central Principal Steve Passinault will be offered another position in the school system, according to The Rev. R. Louis Stasker, Diocese of Grand Rapids Pastor of Secondary Schools, The Press reported.
"We must develop an administrative structure that provides increased efficiencies, and allows us to more quickly adjust to changing conditions," Stasker told The Press.
Tuition at each school is $7,625 a year, but uncollected tuition has reached about $500,000 and $400,000 at Catholic Central and West Catholic, respectively, The Press reported. Enrollment is projected to fall by 100 students next year.
