In this video, an undercover camera goes along on the attempts of three men to get health care in Canada.
Actual nurses and doctors told the guys filming a few interesting things:
- Don’t get sick on Sundays: there are no clinics open and the emergency room waits could be two hours, ten hours, or any number of hours
- There is no day when waiting times at the emergency room could be shorter
- A young guy can wait a few years to get a family doctor. He’s healthy; he has time.
- If you really need a checkup, just pay $900 to get one at a private clinic. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait.
The video’s a bit silly, but the insight you get into what is “the norm” in the system by listening to Canadian medical workers makes it well worth watching.
