GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — West Michigan teachers are spending time on area jobsites in August to gain firsthand knowledge of skills their students will need to succeed in the workforce, according to The Grand Rapids Press.
The “Educator in the Workplace” program is jointly sponsored by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kent Intermediate School District, The Press reported.
About a dozen educators will spend a week learning the “hard skills” and “soft skills” that employers are looking for in the medical, construction, manufacturing, nonprofit and government sectors, according to the report.
The teachers will observe and join project teams at participating companies, the Press reported.
