QUINCY, Mich. - Quincy Community Schools teachers and school board members have approved a contract under which the salary schedule will remain the same for two years and increase by 1 percent in the third year, according to The (Coldwater) Daily Reporter.
Teachers still will receive step increases based on added years of work, though in the first year the amount of those increases will be halved, according to the report.
Teachers and counselors also will pay $20 per individual or $35 per family toward the cost of their monthly Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance premium, according to the Reporter.
The district has had to reduce spending because of fewer enrolled students, The Reporter said.
Superintendent Joe Lopez said the district saved between $20,000 and $40,000 by not bringing an attorney to mediate the contract, the Reporter said.
